Day 1 of your 6 days Gabon gorilla tracking tour involves you taking a flight from your home country to Libreville airport. You will meet your tour guide on arrival who then will take you through a quick briefing on what your gorilla safari package covers. After, he will drive you to your hotel to relax, dine and spend a night.

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and meet your safari guide ready connect to Libreville airport to catch up with your flight to Port-Gentil. From Port-Gentil, you will be picked up by tour guide who then will take you to the lodge in Loango National Park. Arrive early enough and have lunch at your respective lodge after checking in. After, have some rest and then embark on a quick tour-by boat along the Iguela Lagoon which lets you enjoy amazing view of the magnificent mangrove forests or you can opt for afternoon game drive.

Day 3 of your 6 days Gabon gorilla tracking tour begins with an early morning breakfast and later, you will be transferred to the Max Planck Gorilla Habituation and Research Project. You will be briefed on the guidelines to be observed while on a search for western lowland gorillas and then an experienced pygmy master tracker will take you through the long day of exploring about the daily behaviors of these remarkable primates. Upon finding a family of western lowland gorillas, you are expected to keep a distance of about 10m away from these apes during the 1 hour of magical encounter which also includes taking pictures and learning more about their behaviors.

The length of the whole experience may differ depending on where these creatures will be but it is such a memorable experience. Later, you will pay a visit to Yatouga Base Camp the researchers camp by walking or take a boat along the lagoon. While here, expect to learn more about the western lowland gorillas and a lot more about the ongoing research.

In the afternoon, you will embark on game drive in a 4×4 safari vehicle via the park’s stunning savanna grassland. This lets you sight variety of wildlife including leopards, duikers, birds, elephants and many more. After, get back to the lodge to relax, dine and spend a night.

Enjoy your morning breakfast and later, you will set off on an excursion via Tassi Camp which is filled with savanna just close to the Ocean. Tassi is known for its huge profusion of large mammals which can be spotted as they roam freely close to the beach. You also stand a chance to sight hippos as they swim and if you plan your tour to this park during the wet or rainy season, expect to sight several monkeys, buffaloes, forest elephants as they graze along the coastal grassland.

In case you are interested in viewing turtles, then the best is to be here between October and February. You will be escorted at night by an experienced guide to look out for the nesting marine turtles which make up 4 marine turtle species in Gabon’s beaches.
