5 Days Botswana Trip to Okavango Delta

Begin your journey in Maun often called the gateway to Botswana's safari country after arriving at Maun International Airport where you are welcomed by your guide and transferred to the Okavango Delta. You can catch a flight or 4x4 wheel vehicle to transfer to the delta enjoying breathtaking aerial or ground views of winding waterways, verdant islands and expansive floodplains teeming with wildlife.

After arriving at your lodge or tented camp you shall settle into your accommodation and enjoy delicious lunch overlooking the surrounding wilderness.

Later in the afternoon you shall embark on your first guided game drive or boat safari where you watch elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, antelope, and colorful birdlife as you experience the magic of the delta for the first time. Rise early for a sunrise game drive as the cool morning air fills the delta. On the Game Drive watch predators i.e lions, leopards and hyenas as well as herbivores including buffalo, zebras, wildebeest and elephants. After the Game Drive, you shall break off for lunch then transfer to enjoy a Mokoro safari.

A mokoro is a traditional dugout canoe expertly poled through narrow channels by a local guide. This peaceful journey allows you to experience the delta from water level while observing water lilies, frogs, dragonflies, kingfishers and other aquatic wildlife. Your guide will explain the ecology of the wetlands and point out animal tracks, bird calls, and fascinating plant species. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Today offers a deeper connection with nature through a guided walking safari. Accompanied by an experienced professional guide, you'll explore nearby islands on foot, learning to identify animal tracks, medicinal plants, insects and bird species. Walking safaris provide a unique perspective on the smaller details of the ecosystem that are often overlooked during vehicle-based safaris. After lunch and some relaxation, enjoy an afternoon boat cruise through larger waterways. On the excursion you shall watch Hippopotamuses, Nile crocodiles, African fish eagles, Kingfishers, Elephants crossing channels, Beautiful sunset reflections. Return to camp for dinner and an evening of storytelling around the fire.

Breakfast then transfer to enjoy a full day adventure exploring distant areas of the Okavango Delta. The safari you engage in include; Extended game drives, Boat safaris, Mokoro excursions, birdwatching, Wildlife photography and visits to seasonal floodplains. You watch various wildlife animals i.e African wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards, large herds of elephants and buffalo. During the afternoon, relax at the lodge, enjoy the scenic surroundings or watch wildlife from your private deck. As night falls, savor a traditional Botswana-inspired dinner while listening to the sounds of the African bush.

Wake before sunrise for one final game drive or boat excursion. Early mornings often provide outstanding opportunities to observe predators returning from nocturnal hunts, as well as grazing antelope, elephants and abundant birdlife. After breakfast, transfer back to Maun by boat, vehicle, or light aircraft for your onward journey.
